Young driver gets licence back, loses it in a hurry

A young B.C. man accused of street racing in 2011 had his car impounded for speeding February 15, just two days after getting his licence back.

The 20-year-old driver was pulled over by Abbotsford police after he was clocked doing 160 km/h in a 2010 Audi on B.C.'s Highway 1, reports CTV.

Officers were surprised when they found out he was one of the group of 13 young drivers allegedly involved in a high-speed street race in August 2011.

The young man had just been given his driver's licence back February 13, two days earlier.

The Audi he was caught speeding in – he's not the car's registered owner – was impounded after he was handed a violation for excessive speeding. He will go to court in May to find out whether he will be able to legally drive again.
