Free Chevrolets promotion comes with a catch

A Toronto area General Motors dealership is offering customers free cars — with a catch.

"If the world ends, you don't pay!" promises an online ad for the Humberview Group family of dealerships.

The Buick-Cadillac-Chevrolet-GMC dealerships are betting on the end of the world arriving December 21, as predicted by the ancient Mayans, so they're offering "apocalyptic pricing on all remaining 2012 models, while supplies and the third planet from the sun last."

Dealer principal Michael Carmichael told Automotive News the "Mayan Motor Mayhem!" promotion is working, and that showroom traffic and sales have erupted like a super-volcano since the ads started airing early November.
