A new app from Russia aims to shame poor parallel parkers by making their pitiful parking public.
The "Parking Douche" app for Android lets users photograph and upload examples of terrible parking jobs they spot on the street to a database of bad parkers.
The aim is shame these poor parkers into better behaviour by highlighting their licence plate numbers and posting them, along with a pic of their parking job, on the app, Facebook, or an online newspaper, reports Mashable.
The app, launched in Russia back in May, uses IP address information to figure out where the photo was taken, so that other users will be more likely to see pics of their neighbours.
Photos are uploaded in real-time as banner ads on a local online Russian newspaper, according to Mashable, for maximum exposure.
The concept of shaming bad drivers via the Internet is nothing new. U.S.-based youparklikeanasshole.com encouraged users to leave notes calling out people's poor parking.
Last November, a pedestrian in Halifax, Nova Scotia shamed motorists caught driving while using cell phones by posting their photo to a popular Twitter account.
