2010 Honda Accord Crosstour: Unexpectedly right
The age of the SUV is finally be coming to an end, done in by high gas prices and Al Gore pounding his pulpit about global warming. Perhaps we’ll look back on those heady days as a golden time for the automobile, but probably not. More likely we’ll look out over a vast sea of rusting brush bars and nobbly tires that never left the asphalt, and wonder what the heck we were all thinking. The crossover utility vehicle (CUV from here), on the other hand, has the expanded cargo room and increased ground clearance of an SUV, but attempts better fuel economy and less of a “screw you, I’m bigger” attitude. Honda’s foray into this burgeoning market, the Accord Crosstour, is a solid offering with eye-catching looks and all the benefits of the sturdy Accord platform but with available 4WD.

The whole package comes together nicely at the tapered rear. GM architects and engineers from China, Europe and North America collaborated on the design and in spite of the multiple influences, the LaCrosse manages to retain an polished and cohesive look.
