Volkswagen recently setup a speed camera that pays drivers to obey the posted limit.

As part of its Fun Theory initiative, the German automaker and The Swedish National Society for Road Safety asked the global public for idea on how, "fun can change behaviour for the better."

The winning idea came from American Kevin Richardson. His camera - setup in Stockholm, Sweden - sends a ticket to speeders, whose payment goes into a lottery. Drivers obeying the limit however, are automatically entered to win the cash paid out by those nasty offenders.

Over a three day period, 24,857 cars passed VW's speed camera. Average speed dropped 22% to 25 km/h from 32.
