Japanese automaker to address issue with Highlander hybrid and Lexus RX400h
Toyota is recalling more than 110,000 hybrid vehicles globally over a problem with circuitry.
The recall affects certain 2006 and 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Lexus RX400h SUVs. The BBC reports that "the vehicles could stop suddenly because of an electrical problem leading to a blown fuse."
Says Toyota: "In most cases the vehicle will enter a fail-safe driving mode, resulting in reduced power in which the vehicle can still be driven for short distances…Toyota is currently working on obtaining the necessary replacement parts. Once the replacement parts are available, we will notify owners."
The BBC reports that Toyota has recalled almost 12 million vehicles in the past 18 months. The British news agency added that some vehicles in Canada will be affected.
