Eco group spoofs Star Wars ad over VW's alleged CO2 policy
Greenpeace has posted a spoof of Volkswagen's Star Wars Super Bowl ad in hopes of getting the automaker to change its European eco-policy.
The video from the environmental group, featuring a pint-sized Jedi, Wookie and a Death Star wearing the VW logo was recently posted to vwdarkside.com.
Says the site: "Volkswagen is spending millions of Euros every year funding lobby groups who are trying to stop Europe increasing its commitment to greenhouse gas reductions from 20% to 30% by 2020… Our home—Earth—is in trouble. VW opposes key environmental laws we need if we’re going to stop our planet going the way of Alderaan (bye bye). But all is not lost. We feel the good in Volkswagen."
You can "Sign the Rebel Manifesto," which will be sent to Volkswagen brass and, bonus, it unlocks another video. As of this writing, 64,349 people have registered.
No word yet either on what the copyright-happy folks at Lucas Film think of this spoof…
