TV chef builds 2,000 lbs. cake to mark new installment in robot film franchise

Just in time for Transformers: Dark of the Moon to reach theatres, The Cake Boss has created a 2,000 lbs. confection in the shape of Bumblebee, a main character in the three-quel.

It took chef Buddy Valastro, star of the TLC reality show "Cake Boss," four days to make from vanilla pound cake, butter-cream frosting and Rice Krispies treats to bind the cake at critical points.

Depicting a flame-throwing Bumblebee atop the Chevrolet Camaro he transforms into, the cake was recently displayed in New York City.

Valastro said the cake was his biggest challenge to date and actually had to be made outside of his bakery due to the enormous size.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens June 29th.
