Car rental company Hertz is looking to solar power to offset all of that carbon its fleet churns out.

To start with, 16 of the company's 8,400 global locations will get solar panels. One trial location using over 1,000 panels at the Denver International Airport produced 342,766 Kwh of electricity - enough to offset 650,000 lbs of CO2 per year.

Unfortunately, Canada won't be getting any solar Hertz rent-a-cars just yet. All 16 trial locations are slated to open in the States.

This is just the latest move from rental car companies to try and green-up their image. Expect to see more electric-vehcicles for rent in the near future also, including the new Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt.
