Car wash lets Canadians stay warm while gassing up
An Edmonton car wash-gas bar franchise has introduced a new mobile phone app that lets them pay for gas “directly from the comfort of their cars.”
Hughes Petroleum's free app for iOS and Android phones lets you automatically pay for gas at the pump via credit card.
Users give the app their credit card and personal information once, during sign-up; when filling up, all they have to do is open the app, enter the pump ID, and choose how much gas they'd like.
A digital receipt is sent to their phone once the transaction is complete, explains Mobile Syrup.
The system is designed cut down congestion around gas pumps and help customers keep warm in winter — they have to stand outside only as long as it take to pump the gas, now.
AutoGuide says the 22-station Edmonton gas company is the only one in North America with such a system, though a station in Masschusetts has been testing something similar.
