Jeep will replace its Liberty SUV with an all-new Cherokee-branded vehicle 2014, the automaker said February 22.

The Chrysler-owned company released four official images of the 2014 Cherokee after several others leaked online, reports AutoBlog.

The images confirm Jeep is taking the Cherokee in an entirely new design direction, one most Jeep purists seem offended by.

The iconic seven-slot grille now has a horizantal crease across its middle, and the headlight elements have been split apart. The automaker has yet to reveal any rear or profile images.

The 2014 Cherokee will be built in Toledo, Ohio, and go on sale this fall; rumours are it will ride on a car-based platform like the Dodge Dart's.
