Sedans, crossovers updated for 2014

Volvo will be updating their S60, XC60, XC70 and S80 vehicles for the 2014 model year, the automaker announced February 19.

The cars will all get facelifts out front to accentuate the cars' width, with the S60 specifically getting a set of restyled headlights; the XC60 losing some black trim; and the XC70 and S80 rectangular daytime running lamps and sloping hoods.

The automaker is moving to emphasize attention-to-detail on its S60 and XC60 models, said Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo's senior vice-president of product strategy.

This includes, inside, a new sports seat option and, outside, some trim removal and enhancement.

The new S80 and XC70 also get some "human-centric" enhancements; in the case of the S80, these include an optional Executive interior package and an Inscription package that allows for consumer-specified bespoke modifications.

Inside, all four cars get Volvo's new Sensus Connected Touch internet connectivity system routed through the car's 7-inch touchscreen. They also get optional steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters on automatic transmission-equipped cars; and permanent high beam headlights with Active High Beam Control to not blind oncoming drivers.

All cars will debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in early March.
