Power brakes could fail in EVs

Mitsubishi is recalling 226 examples of its i-MiEV electric car because of a possible defect with the braking system.

i-MiEV electric vehicles from model year 2012 are affected.

On some of these vehicles, the brake system vacuum pump could fail because it may have been manufactured incorrectly.

This would stop the brakes' power assist from working, which could increase stopping distance and possibly cause a crash.

Dealers will replace the brake vacuum pump.
