Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse nets 1,200 horses

If Bugatti's current engineering philosophy could be summed up in two words, they'd likely be "more horsepower." After turning out the most powerful production car on the market, what did they do?

They added more horsepower. The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse has 1,200 units of the stuff.

The Grand Sport Vitesse is the open-top version of their similarly powerful Veyron Super Sport, reports CarScoop.

Both feature the four-turbo eight-litre 16-cylinder engine found in the stock Veyron, tweaked so it ekes out another 200 horsepower more than it should.

Removing the roof on the targa-top Vitesse meant the Grand Sport chassis had to be strengthened to maintain rigidity. Bugatti has not explained whether the revisions included additional safety measures designed to save your scalp from blowing off.

Top speed or acceleration times have not yet been released by Bugatti.
