Faulty parts may pose injury risk in accident, 123 vehicles affected
Honda and Toyota were the subject of two very similar recall warnings this week. (Parts supplier problem much?)
In both the 2012 Honda Accord and the 2011 Toyota RAV4, the side curtain airbag inflator may have been incorrectly manufactured; they might not inflate in a side-impact collision.
The failure of the airbags may lead to an increased risk of personal injury. Dealers will inspect and replace the defective part if necessary.
About 92 of the Toyota SUVs and 22 of the Honda cars are affected.
Ford also issued a low-volume recall this week, on its 2012 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.
Due to the improper manufacture of some seats – in particular, the second row right-hand seat – the headrest frame may break off from the seat back frame in rear-end collisions, increasing risk of injury.
Dealers will inspect the weld between the seat frame and the head restraint guide sleeve tube, and replace the frame if necessary. Only nine vehicles are affected.
