Nissan came to Los Angeles to preview a future crossover with this Hi-Cross Concept.
The brand's tight-lipped about what the concept will actually previewing, but we'd say a future Murano is likely.
The Hi-Cross is a seven-seater, but Nissan says it has compact dimensions thanks to short front and rear overhangs and the way its advanced powertrain's packaged.
Speaking of the powertrain, the Hi-Cross is a hybrid vehicle, combining an electric motor similar to the one utilized in Nissan's own Leaf electric vehicle, and a 2.0-litre direct injection gasoline engine. Without getting two technical, it uses two clutches - the first to quickly decouple the gasoline engine from the wheels when the truck is in electric drive and power regeneration mode to save fuel, and a second to simply smooth the whole transition.
Time will tell if we see this technology employed in a future Nissan crossover...
